Brenda, Shelly & Dani,
Please accept our deepest condolences for the loss of Lonnie. We were reacquainted with Lonnie when Dani and our daughter Jordyn played Portage ball together. It was wonderful getting to know him and his lovely family again! He was so proud of all of you and it showed in his face every time he looked your way. Keep that thought in your heart always! His life was too short, but he left a wonderful legacy - his family! Keep him alive in your hearts!
Our prayers are with you!

Brenda,
We are very sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. We best remember Lonnie for taking his personal time on a Saturday a few years ago to give our Cub Scout Den a memorable tour of the West Alton Firehouse. It was obvious how much he cared about keeping people safe and saving lives.

It saddens me deeply to wake this morning and hear this terrible news. Lonnie was a good and loyal friend to all who knew him. Although his recent passing was ominous, his impact on the community and his family was bright and will forever shine on you, Shelly and Dani. May you find strength at every obstacle...and since I have much to share, I send it in abundance your way. Much love, Putt Houston

To All of Lonnie's Family,
It was our privilege and honor to be able to call Lonnie our neighbor, our friend, and our Fire Chief. Lonnie showed us his selfless love and service to his family, friends, co-workers and fireman. May we all try to live by his example.

Dearest Shelly,
We were so shocked to hear of your dad's death. Your family has been so good to our daughter Tiffani, she thinks the world of you!
I know in my heart that your dad "has been promoted to be by Jesus' side" (as I just read from Pastor Winters story in the paper and I thought it was a great thing to remember.) He will forever be watching over you and guiding with a gentle nudge, so when you need to know he's there just quietly hug yourself, close your eyes and think of him!
Always in our prayers,
Laura and Don Palmer

Dear family, It is with great sorrow that I must express my condolences for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Lonnie at the school for 3 1/2 yrs. He was more than a co-worker. He was a friend. His experiences as a firefighter were instrumental in me also becoming a firefighter. As a firefighter, I now consider him to be more than a friend. He is my Brother. There is no doubt in my mind that he is with God, answering the "Call" in heaven!

Dear Family,
I did not know Lonnie yet I have a lot of respect for him because he was a good friend to my son Sean. Sean worked with him at Orchard Farm and they both shared the passion of hunting and fishing. Lonnie was going to take him Duck hunting this year but it was not to be. He was special to my son who was half his age and I am grateful to him for that.
Lonnie is home, yet we are all left with a void. I will continue to pray for your family. God will get you through this and take care of you all if you put your faith in him.

Dear Dani:
We wanted to say how deeply sorry we are for the lost of your dad as well as well as a best friend. Your dad was a very special and caring individual. Your dad will always be so very proud of the young beautiful women that you have grown up to be. Your dad will most always be in your heart and will always be looking down on you. He’ll be sitting on your shoulder sweet heart! God always says that he does things for the good of those who love him. We may not be able to figure it out right now, but God always has the best in mind. Always remember that God is always just a prayer away and that we are just a text away! We love you so very much and are always here for you!
We love you sweet heart! Love Gwen and Alyson

Brenda, Michelle, Danielle,
My thoughts are with you. My heart is breaking right now. Remember you had the best husband and father anyone could ask for. I remember when Cameron was little he talked about Lonnie and the fire dept and how he wanted to be a firefighter when he grew up. Lonnie had a a great influence on kids. They looked up to him. He will be missed.

My dearest Dani,
I not only had the privilege to worked with your Dad at Orchard Farm, I have now had the opportunity to meet you Dani, and what a wonderful person you are. You are such a special person to me and to our daughter Alyson. You hold a very special place in our hearts and our home.
In this time of sorrow and grief, know that God is always there. When the tears fall he will wipe them away. When there is happy times he has his arms around you. Your earthly father now has peace and comfort.
Dani, take comfort in Psalm 18:2
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Be at peace. Your father is home.
Love you always like my own.

Brenda, Michelle and Danielle,
Looking back over the past 18 years it is amazing how things change. I remember him telling me a month or so ago "I will be alright just take care of my girls" and ensure they are ok. I promised him that day that everyone would ensure this happens. Anything you need please let me know I'm just a phone call away.
Lonnie has been a great hunting buddy, wonderful friend and Chief and he will be greatly missed.
